The bid opening ceremony for the backlog maintenance/rehabilitation of 59km Rural Roads in Abia State has been successfully conducted at the office of the Abia State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (Abia RAAMP) in Umuahia.

Speaking during his opening speech, the Acting Project Coordinator of Abia RAAMP, Engr. Chinyere Donatus Chibuihe welcomed all bidders to the event while thanking the Executive Governor of Abia State – His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) for demonstrating uncommon commitment towards the project, through the payment of counterpart funds and ensuring that the project does not lack any resource needed to make it a success in the State.

Speaking further, he assured the bidders of an open and transparent process where the most responsive bidders for the Lots advertised will be awarded the contracts.

In her closing remark, the Honourable Commissioner for Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection – the Supervisory Ministry of Abia RAAMP, Mrs Ngozi Felix, expressed joy over the success of the bid opening ceremony, noting that, the roads to be constructed are not just mere pathways but are routes through which farmers transport their produce to the markets, children travel to their schools and families access healthcare.

Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner- Mrs Ngozi Felix emphasized that Dr. Alex Otti’s administration is one which recognizes rural development as the cornerstone of sustainable progress in the State. She pointed out the vital roles accessible and reliable road networks play in transforming the lives of rural dwellers, while assuring of the Governor’s commitment to the development of Abia’s rural space.

Further, she urged any companies that emerge as winners in the process to ensure to build roads that are durable enough to pave the way to a future free from poverty but full of opportunities for everyone.
